Squarehead Productions aims to create a space for theoretical reflection on the circus field, their own daily artistic practice and living conditions.
To this end the company collaborates with Universities and Art Institutions and conducts academic research projects as well as artistic research laboratories navigating between theory and practice.
The company furthermore publishes in (academic) journals and presents lectures and performance experiments at international conferences and festivals.
The company's key interest in all of their artistic and academic activities is the nature of creative processes: e.g. implications of artistic mobility, intermedial encounters, intersections of cognitive sciences and performance, production of space and meaning, rethinking creation methods, redefining the role of the audience and their expectations, challenging the modes and norms of performance situations, etc.
